The new four-star hotel "GolfINGolf" is strategically located in the vicinity of the Milan-Varese motorway, at the entrance to the expressway to Malpensa Airport and 15 minutes from the new Milan Fair Grounds in Rho.
It is situated within the beautiful complex "Le Robinie Golf Club & Resort" with which it shares the golf courses, fitness centre and swimming pool, thereby offering its patrons the opportunity to perfectly match business and leisure.
Recently completed, the hotel meets the highest accommodation standards. Its meeting rooms for seminars and conventions place it at the forefront among the accommodation facilities in the territory North of Milan.
THE PROJECT - THE INTERIOR
In consideration of the geographical and financial features of the area, the Customer decided for a modern and functional place tailored for corporate and business guests. This interesting and complicated project was dealt with by the Norlight team in strict cooperation with the Customer and the project planners, namely architects Balconi of Studio BMP and Vincenzo Caroč of Studio UDA for interior design.
THE PROJECT - LIGHTING
Sobriety and minimalism interpreted in terms of illumination led to the choice of luminaires where the material part is reduced to minimum and even camouflaged. Only light has the task to design, give volume, indicate paths, harmonise environments and play with shapes and colours, to charm and seduce.
And even when our choice fell on conspicuous luminaires, minimalism comes back in the purity of all-light shapes.
The first group includes the luminaires designed for indirect lighting of the entrance hall (Vela), areas in front of the elevators (ON-OFF), corridors (a special version of ON-OFF), bedrooms and meeting rooms (a special version of our cove light fittings "Basi Luminose"), and bathrooms.
Bubble and Bubble Emotion that embellish the reception desk and lounge areas, belong to the second group.
THE LIGHT ENGINEERING SOLUTION
The light engineering project was entirely developed by Norlight. We studied the most suitable lighting solution for each environment, both in terms of ornamental results and light engineering. In many cases, we manufactured ad-hoc luminaires to tackle specific requirements set forth by the project planner.
This is the case with Vela, a luminaire designed by architect Caroč to illuminate the entrance hall coffered ceiling from top height.
As a sail ('vela' in Italian), this luminaire has a sinuous body that seems to collect light and gently nudge it toward the ceiling to give it volume. Installed in continuous rows along the entire length of the beams, these almost invisible luminaires make the space beat to rhythm of the ceiling framework.
Around the elevators and in the ground-floor bathrooms, we installed luminaires from the ON-OFF series that draw effective lighting blades across the ceiling. Illumination they provide is direct, yet diffused and gentle since light is filtered through opal screens.
Meeting rooms have indirect lighting. It comes, soft and even, from the bezel obtained in the false ceiling central aperture, and encompasses both audience and lecturers without being disturbing. Thanks to the separate switching options, lights can be dimmed up and down according to the needs of the audience and the lecturers.
Once at the upper floors, patrons are almost beckoned along the corridors by the fast-paced succession of lights installed at each bedroom door. In this manner, these luminaires accomplish the twofold task of illuminating the path and signalling access to the bedrooms.
This special version of ON-OFF is designed to perfectly fit into the door bay and accept three 21W lamps with separate switching options that provide room, night and emergency lighting. Being centrally controlled, these luminaires can be set to different light emissions in view of improved visual comfort for the guests and lower running costs.
In the bedrooms, traditional wall and table lamps for night reading were replaced with diffused illumination coming directly from the bedhead that runs all along the wall. There also is indirect lighting that originates from a special curvilinear small sail placed above the bed. All this makes overall room lighting pleasantly even.
Once more, recourse was made to Norlight designers for the bathrooms. Given the meagre space availability, they worked out a solution where one virtually invisible luminaire illuminates both the room and the mirror.
So much about the invisible luminaires. On the other hand, there are the scenic clusters of Bubble luminaires that enrich and characterise the reception desk and lounge bar areas.
Big, small or medium, with a grey or coloured inside, emitting white or colour-mix light, the pure shapes of Bubble animate the immaterial space of the hotel entrance hall. Enclosed by enormous glass panes, this is a sort of decompression zone between the hectic outside and the calmness and rest of the bedrooms. In the darkness of the evening, you cannot miss the Bubble circles as an unmistakable call for the travellers passing by.
Norlight is also present in the hotel's technical environments. Kitchens and storerooms were installed with Kappa and Zeta 55 , both featuring a high IP degree and optimum technical and light engineering specifications.
